Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Excavator Operator to join our team. This position plays a critical role in underground utility installation and site development by operating excavators efficiently and accurately in coordination with ground crews.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate excavators for trenching, grading, backfilling, and utility installation
• Excavate safely around existing utilities
• Follow grade stakes, lasers, and project plans to maintain proper elevations and slopes
• Work closely with pipe layers and laborers to ensure safe and efficient operations
• Perform daily equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance
• Maintain clean and organized job sites
• Adhere to all company safety policies and OSHA regulations

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience operating excavators in underground utility or heavy civil construction
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and grade stakes
• Strong understanding of trench safety and excavation practices
• Experience working around live utilities
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Valid driver’s license required (CDL preferred but not required)
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and job site environments
