Summary
Join our team as a Sterile Processing Technician, where you will play a crucial role in supporting healthcare delivery by ensuring the proper sterilization and processing of medical instruments and equipment. This position offers a stable, long-term opportunity serving our nation's veterans.
Responsibilities and duties
  • Perform decontamination, cleaning, and sterilization of surgical instruments, medical devices, and equipment following strict infection control protocols and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Operate and maintain various sterilization equipment including steam sterilizers, washer/disinfectors, ultrasonic cleaners, and automated endoscope reprocessors
  • Assemble and package instrument sets, prepare case carts for surgical procedures, and maintain proper documentation of all processes.
  • Conduct quality assurance testing, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards, VA directives, and facility policies.
  • Manage inventory of sterile supplies, coordinate with OR and other departments, and maintain organized storage areas.
  • Transport, track, and distribute sterilized equipment throughout the medical facility while maintaining sterile technique and safety standards.
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent plus one of the following:
    • Two years of relevant post-secondary education at an accredited institution or
    • A combination of relevant post-secondary education and work experience totaling two years.
  • Minimum 2 years of recent sterile processing experience
  • Strong knowledge of sterilization techniques and aseptic principles
  • Physical ability to stand/walk full shift and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills
  • Strong English communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Background check required.
  • Must meet health screening requirements.
