This position is for the 2026-2027 school year and will go between North High, Ben Franklin Middle School, and Virtual Academy

Position Purpose: Under the general supervision of the School Principal and department of career and technical guidance, develop students' marketing, management, entrepreneurship, business, and leadership skills, through an understanding of our American business system and its place in the nation's and world's economy. To provide knowledge needed for intelligent consumption of business services; practical business skills for personal use or for use in business occupations; and to encourage students to develop leadership, work and personal habits essential for success in life.



Responsibilities



Planning and Preparation

  • Demonstrate knowledge of content in marketing and business education to explicitly connect key concepts for student learner.
  • Utilize district guaranteed and viable curriculum including the scope & sequence of academic and social emotional learning targets along with the defined proficiency scales.
  • Plan programming for individual and small groups of students that is based on student data implemented to meet each student's individual ability and need.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the diverse social, emotional and developmental learning needs of all students.
  • Design assessments that are aligned to the standards and essential learning outcomes, providing opportunities for authentic and meaningful assessments.

Classroom Environment

  • Create an environment that establishes respect and rapport between the teacher and learners, as well as among the students.
  • Establish a classroom culture that values high expectations, work ethic, and a growth mindset.
  • Establish and clearly articulate procedures and routines that promote efficiency and appropriate use of time.
  • Utilize district behavioral plan to promote positive student behavior.
  • Create and implement individual positive behavior support plans that proactively support student success in all learning environments.
  • Create a safe and equitable classroom.

Instruction

  • Utilize a variety of specialized teaching techniques, interventions, and assessments in order to assess and intervene with individualized programming that ensure student progress.
  • Clearly communicate the instructional purpose of each lesson and make connections to prior learning and/or other content areas.
  • Utilize questions and discussions that promote critical thinking and provide the teacher with formative assessment information to guide instruction.
  • Evaluate student progress on a regular basis and maintains complete and accurate records in the form of progress reports. Understands and implements standardized, formative, and summative assessments.
  • Utilize frequent opportunities for visible student engagement, self-assessment, and reflection.
  • Apply information gained through formative assessment to varied instructional approaches designed to meet the needs of all students.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Participate in all faculty or required district meetings.
  • Work to establish and maintain open lines of positive communication with students and their parents/guardians concerning both academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
  • Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administration regulations, state and federal regulations and board policy.
  • Utilize the district protocol for maintaining information about student progress.
  • Establish and maintain communication partnerships with families and the community.
  • Actively participate in the professional learning community process.
  • Actively participate in on-going professional development opportunities.
  • Display high standards of honesty, integrity, and confidentiality in interactions with colleagues, families, students, and the public.





Licensing

  • Must hold a valid secondary teaching license.
  • Instructors must hold a Bachelor of Science degree with a major, minor, or minor equivalency (ME:24) in Marketing Education or Business Education.
  • Alternative options for teacher preparation and licensure may be identified or established by the State Board for Career and Technical Education in cooperation with the Education Standards and Practices Board and the teacher preparation programs in the institutions of higher education.SecondaryLicensingReq.pdf
  • Completion of an application for a Business Education Certificate. A copy of all teaching licenses/certificates, and transcripts of all college courses completed must be submitted with the application.
  • Verification of having completed two separate college or university courses in the nature of:
    • history and philosophy of Career and Technical Education
    • managing Career and Technical Student Organizations
